Some people are starting to wonder whether I have disappeared from this planet! It is true I have been very quiet - too quiet admittedly - but in my defence: I have been very busy too :-)! First of all work-wise, as I have‘volunteered’ ;-) to continue the part of (girl-)Kris’ work on Organisational Development in ‘her’ organisation in Bobo, while still doing my own work in Ouaga as well. So at the end of July/beginning of August I spend two weeks in Bobo to meet the people at Sida Ka Taa*, to squeeze in loads of interviews (again...*sigh* :-)) in such a short space of time - meaning: interviewing days, nights, week, weekends, with no end or so it seemed - to organise another two focus groups and to discover the Bobolais-nightlife ;-). After that I have been away on a much-needed-holiday for another three weeks, during which I kept away from computers as far as possible. So yes, it might seem - and it is partly true - that I have been hiding for a while :-))!But last weekend I returned to Ouaga, and monday was the first day back to work at ASMADE. My head seemed a bit reluctant to get into‘work-mode’ again but it was great seeing my colleagues and friends and ‘VSO-family’ after such a long time. One of my colleagues actually did a little ‘happy dance’ in his office when he saw that I’d returned :-) - who would not get ‘energised’ after such warm welcome, eh? - and time REALLY flies (being already at month 7!!) here in Burkina, and there’s so much to do still, so I am determined to get stuck in and get the work done! Next update coming soon!***I will write a separate blog-post on my work and life in Bobo and Sida Ka Taa once I’m there again, which is somewhere next week!** Some of you have rightfully pointed out that I am even worse in my neglect of‘Flemish updates‘ so next time....ook in het Nederlands, beloofd ;-)!
