The fulcrum of the nightbalances dark and lightThe hope of a new daypivots against a pastlaid to black.Tequila sunrise oranges and redsrise from the green flash.Eyes a dazehe stands and stares aheadinto the wide expanseof old horizons.Sorrow buried deep in whiteclouds of time gone by,A love let goin pain and anguish,A life takenway before its time.Remembering refills his eyes.Verdant meadows sway withgentle puffs of springcolour awakening to the windbrushing its green rainover the high mountain plateau.Snow caps linger onlike the last remnants of the old man’s hair.Clinging to the peaksas the sunheats the mountain’s browheralding a new season.© Sheila Ash, 2018ashramblings
