I rescued a clay pot/vase the other night. We did a little ride onKris's brand new motor bike, me on the back for the first time. Wecircled around in the neighbourhood, getting used to the feeling ofriding the bike together, turning from one dirt-road to the next, scanning the area around the house, waving andbonjour-ingleft andright,.... and there it was,le canari- a word none of us new what itwas before and during the mooré language class we all wondered why weneeded to know the name of a little yellow chirping bird whichprobably doesn't even exist here :-), lol!It was just lying there by the side of the road, covered in mud anddust, and we had already passed it a few hundred meters - a fewseconds during which a whole conversation went on in my head aboutwhether or not I had seen it right and whether or not it was worthchecking out - before I made Kris turn back. We missed it the secondtime, so again we turned around and just as I started to doubt myeyesight, we spotted it....On the market you find stalls filled withthem, stacked up hight in all different sizes and shapes and I havebeen eyeing them up ever since our arrival. But this one is better, even with the little piece missing at the top. This one is so muchbetter because I found it. So it is "MON canari" now, standing nicelywashed on the terrace outside the house, waiting to be used again, rescued from the dirt, 're-cycled' - my stepdad will laugh his socksoff when he hears that I actually manage to collect or recycle stuff, even in Africa - but I am very pleased and I didn't even need themooré to get it...
