Hi everyone! My name is Tzviatko Chiderov and I'm going to Africa!I have decided to spend the next 6 months volunteering through an organization called VSO (Voluntary Services Overseas). VSO is an international development charity that works to fight poverty by sending experienced volunteers to work on meaningful and impactful projects overseas. The primary focus area of my work will be HIV/AIDS and I will be living in Harare - the capital of Zimbabwe. The partner organization I'll be working with in Zimbabwe is the National AIDS Council (NAC). They empower communities to fight HIV and AIDS and my position as a Website Manager will involve helping to develop an effective web strategy for the organization, including the creation of a website and training NAC employees to support and maintain it.My family has been incredibly supportive of my decision and I am very thankful for that. Also, my employer, Allstate, agreed to put me on a personal leave of absence! This gives me a much needed peace of mind, knowing that I will likely have the option of being rehired upon my return. Thanks, Allstate!I wrote anAbout page, where you can read more about me, VSO and Zimbabwe if you'd like.I plan on using this blog as a place to record my experiences during my time in Africa and I hope you find it interesting, informative and entertaining. Please always feel free to post comments, tips, ideas and suggestions, as well as feedback :)Thanks!
