Life is not dangerous in Kingston. In fact the locals are friendlier than ever. I know that because while having Bunty take a photo is a painless experience, Kingstonians now have George on the scene with his compact point and shoot camera. People patiently hang around while my fingers go from the mistaken zoom button to the correct take picture button. It's St Patrick's day here as you might guess - included in the photo at the Jamaican-German society is Robert, next to him the treasurer of the Hash Harrier's whose name I will get later, next Rafael, new to CUSO-VSO and finally Delphine. That's a very fine white plastic chair on the left of the photo, but next time round it or any of its relatives will be cropped out. The darkness above the green hair has much to commend it too because it accentuates the hair, however unnecessary fresh air above people is also living on borrowed time. Here's a work related picture from the waiting area at theDispute Resolution Foundation (DRF) at Camp Road. A sad event this week was, I was told, that the aunt of the CEO's executive administrative assistant, Karen Gentles, had passed away. The wake will be next Friday. Many Jamaicans come to the DRF for help and advice. This photo was taken on Friday, so there were not the usual crowds. The lady's told me that her name was Madgie. So, friends of Madgie, please advise her that she is on the Internet! And finally, you know that things will get better, because here are acouple of law enforcement agents who will ensure that infuture there is less pointing and shooting. They were at the Jamaican Defence Force (JDF) camp on Tom Redcam Avenue. You would never guess that I took this photo through a wire fence because I carefully place the camera at just the right spot. I am slowly getting better and less modest, but I will not give up my daytime job at present. Noreth will be relieved to hear that.Future postings will have interesting information on the MONA "Fun in the Sun" event tomorrow , Fort Clarence or other fine Beach, the Hash Harriers outing to Castleton Botanic Gardens, a visit to Marcia's shop on Hector Street where I purchase my beef patties most days, and the highlight will be Champs in a couple of week's time. By then you will see that much of the unsightly white spaces will have disappeared and the writing skill level will have edged up a notch.
