It has started getting chilly here - I now have to wear long sleeves in the morning and at night to be comfortable :) Yeah, I know most of you are probably just getting out of a brutal winter (which I am very happy I missed), but the winter is just about to start here… although I’m told there will be no freezing temperatures even at its worst, haha - wonderful. It’s been a good last few days. I (randomly) met two Bulgarians last week :)I went to have a burger at a food court not far from work. A guy walked up to my table and asked if he could take one of the open chairs. He seemed to be wearing a martenitsa (a traditional Bulgarian bracelet, made with white and red strings, that many people wear during the month of March), so I asked him where he was from. I was so excited and happy when he said Bulgaria! Him and his friend came and sat on my table and we had a great conversation. This was the first time I had spoken to Bulgarians (in person) since January (I met a Bulgarian guy named Ivo at New Years’ in Mozambique).Just a couple days ago there was a VSO visitor from the headquarters office who came here. Lucie is from London, but for the past several months she’s been based out of South Africa, working on starting a VSO volunteer program in Lesotho. She is in Zimbabwe just for a few days, and one of her tasks is to check on me :) and make sure everything is going well. We had a great discussion about my placement at NAC and my general impressions and thoughts on living and working in Zimbabwe. She was happy that things are going well. I also showed her a draft of the NAC website I’ve been working on and she was impressed.Samone, my friend from the UK who showed me around London during my layover on my way to Africa in November last year, has just arrived to visit here for about a week! I’m pretty sure she’ll have a blast, and I already have some exciting activities planned for the next few days :)
