Don't give that 'guy' a gun

We did a boat trip today to some of the Monastries in the area. It was with some of the same people as yesterday and was a great crowd (and a great craic as Pauline would say!) We visited three monasteries but women weren’t allowed in the last one (something about a lap dancing club apparently!) They were really interesting but also quite similar.That evening we headed to a‘Cultural Club’ that Tom had recommended. All I’d remembered him saying about it was that he wasn’t sure how to give the money to the dancers once they had finished. I maybe should have asked him more questions. It turns out it was the size of someone’s (small) front room. There was an MCwho fancied himself as a bit of a comedian who seemed to take great delight in saying, apparently, very funny things about thefaranjisin Amharic. Once he’d done his bit the dancers came out. The dancers were less than enthusiastic and the dancing seemed to consist of shaking themselves at the customers. The dancers took a brief break and before they returned a man appeared with a gun. There was a less than brief moment when I thought there was a possibility that a crazy man had come in with an actual gun. But it turned out he was part of a rap duo. The dancers returned once the crazy gun guy had finished having a rap off. At this point we made what we’d hoped to be a swift exit. It turned out to take a bit longer as we had to manoeuvre around the dancers, side step the guy blocking the door and then return for a forgotten jumper!On returning to the hotel Pauline decided to wash some clothes. Catherine and I suddenly heard a little shriek and then Pauline asking for a little help. It turned out her socks had fallen down the drain. After looking down the drain for about five minutes, which took longer as I couldn’t stop laughing, we found the socks in Pauline’s trousers.
