The week ofHIFAis probably the most exciting week of the year for the city of Harare. Visitors from around the world come to experience international music acts and other artistic performances at this popular 6-day festival. It's a true spectacle.I went to HIFA shows two of the days - the first and the last :) The festival was held in the Harare Gardens - a large park in central Harare. Kelly and Aubrey were still here when it began on Tuesday of last week, so we all went to the opening day together. There was not only great music and abundant food and drinks, but also a ton of traditional Shona (the most popular Zimbabwean tribe) crafts for sale. The music was very good, especially on the closing night. There was also fireworks, which made the local kids go crazy with happiness and excitement :) and it all ended with a couple of DJs and a party in the Harare Gardens lasting way into the night! One of the things I liked about HIFA the most is the incredible diversity and high energy of everyone in the crowd. You could see people of all colors and backgrounds happily mingling with each other and enjoying the show together.
