Wednesday we spent the day looking round Djibouti City. It’s nothing spectacular- it has a very French feel and there are a lot of military there. But we did find ice cream. The joy it brought us! And we had croissants and real butter. I was in food heaven! We then spent the afternoon lazing on the beach. Bliss.Thursday, after croissants and real butter, and ice cream, and later a cheese plate (I was almost crying with joy) we headed to Moucha Island. Moucha Island has white sand beaches, clear sea, fish, corals and is all inclusive. Talk about luxury. And it wasn’t expensive! We spent the day snorkelling, napping, reading, eating, drinking...Friday was a similarly relaxing day. We were supposed to leave the island but instead decided to stay another day. I snorkelled a little too long and managed to burn my bottom so spent part of the evening directing the air conditioning at it. Much to the joy of Pauline and Catherine I’m sure!Today was the last day on the island and the last day of the holiday unfortunately. The flight was an evening flight- Djibouti to Addis Ababa then Addis Ababa to Kigali. On the first flight I got talking to a navy guy who had been working in Djibouti. It turned out he didn’t like flying so I was distracting him. Only I kept forgetting and pointing out how high we were or the turbulence or other such helpful comments.
