I spent this weekend in Kigali. We had a National Volunteering Programme Review on Thursday and then I went for a work meeting. In the evening April, Vanessa and I went for a Chinese and then watched Glee which really is my favourite way to spend an evening. Friday, I went into the office in Kigali and did some work with the General Secretary. Then in the evening, after watching more Glee, the British VSO volunteers (plus a couple of imposters) headed to the British High Commissioners Residence to celebrate the wedding of Prince William and Kate. There was Pimms, wine, sticky toffee pudding, cheese on toast and a lot of Muzungus. It was all very bizarre but a lovely evening.Saturday was umuganda in the morning so, you guessed it, we watched more Glee. Pauline and I then headed to meet Richard, Emily, Nicole and her family to see some of the work that Richard is involved with. It involved a lot of clapping and singing which was lovely. We safely made it into a bar just before the rains started where we sheltered for the afternoon. Then in the evening we headed for a Chinese where we were joined by a lot of other volunteers. Sunday, we headed to karaoke church before having a wonderful brunch in Shocolat.
