Yesterday started off as a line from an Alanis Morissette song, if the song had gone, 'isn't it ironic that you arrange a meeting in Kigali at a time which enables you to have a lie in, only to find out on the eve of the meeting that there is a public holiday in Gitarama and so the latest bus to Kigali is 7am which means you'll have to hang around Kigali for two and a half hours waiting for the meeting and if you had not organised said meeting you would have had the day off.'Luckily Geri had a brilliant idea to go swimming in the two and a half hours we had to hang around so after struggling out of bed at 5.45 and onto the bus we turned up at Mille Collines (very swanky!) where, after a little confusion (I think they were making sure we were acceptable clientele!), we were allowed into the pool. The sun was shining and we had the pool to ourselves most of the time. It was brilliant and will be replicated as often as money allows.
