The past few weeks have been so busy that I haven't had time to blog. In a desperate attempt to catch up with my blog before I go to South Korea (in 2 days time!) here are the highlights of the past weeks...Judy, Pauline and I headed to Kibungo in the East to see Cathy, Louise and Mark and to buy some cow poo... paintings. Actually that stil sounds weird. But they're lovely. Somehow the two vegetarians in the group (Judy and I) managed to unwittingly bring a present of minced meat which was opened by Louise (also a vegetarian). It was particularly sad given that when the mysterious bag was found we thought it was a big rice-krispie cake. No such luck! The photo is of the Imigongo- cow dung paintings- being made.We had some guests over from the UK to visit our work. This is the end of one of the trainings we had for our young women when our guests were being introduced. We had to make two films in work for a donor. It took up a lot of my time but was really fun. This is the star of one of the films. The next George Clooney I think! One Saturday a big group of vols got together for Tammy's birthday. It was a lovely afternoon spent playing Piggy in the Middle and listening to a very good band (see below). We were joined by a little boy for 'PITM' who seemed to have great fun without actually understanding the game. When we went to dance he told me he didn't like dancing but enjoyed running so we spent some time running round the dancers. That night we had a lovely evening of pizzas, games and cake! The girls (and boy) had kindly got us a cake for mine and Pauline's birthdays. It was so kind and very tasty. Last week it was Pauline's birthday so Judy and I headed to Ngoroero to celebrate with her. She invited some friends over and we spent the evening trying different styles of dancing. This is me being taught Intore dancing. The Irish dancing went down well too. British dancing was less of a hit. In fact one of our Rwandan friends thought it was a joke when I showed him! Pauline's friend had sent her over chocolate and rice krispies for her birthday and so we had a very enjoyable bank holiday making and eating them!Thisweekend was a sad occasion as it was Christine's last weekend. We spent it in Butare and Kigeme. The first photo is in Space Place where Christine was presented with a cake and champagne. The second photo is in Kigeme playing Pass The Parcel courtesey of Isy. The bottom photo is of us dancing, although I can't remember what we were dancing to- it made sense at the time!In two days I will be boarding the plane for Korea, in three days I will be in Bangkok, in four days I will be in Seoul, in eight days I will be seeing my sister for the first time in a year and in less than two weeks I will be seeing my Dad, Ailsa and the girls. I am very very very excited.
