This may be a seriously unflattering photo (spot the hot, sweaty mzungu who doesn't own an iron), but I have set vanity aside and included it here because it proves that I am doing some actual work.It was taken last week when I was helping out a fellow VSO volunteer by delivering a training session on case study writing for a group of women fromNairobi Family Support Services. They are volunteers whowill be working as Community Based Rehabilitation counselors, providing peer mentoring and support for mothers ofdeafblindchildren in Kibera.None of these women are well-off, none werebeing paid and some spoke quite limited English but they were focused, committed and in two hours got to grips with the idea of telling a story better than some of my old clients from the UK ever will. It was a pleasure to work with them.Rest assured, normal blogging service will be resumed going forward, comprising the usual blend of holiday snaps and half-baked cultural analysis.
