I make no apology for quickly blogging this latest developments in this amazing story. I was disappointed (for a few moments!) to find the cappuccino machine broken at our nearest cafe today! Not really a disaster, we can walk a short distance to the next block and get one there. We are very lucky. Many people in Cambodia are not that lucky. The villagers in this story may feel lucky because of the aid they have received but it's hard to imagine what they have been through and sadly, there are almost certainly many communities in Cambodia who are receiving nothing like this - or nothing at all. You may have seen that significant parts of Bangkok are due to flood soon too, as their water system is full to bursting. The story in this link is a fine example of people from different backgrounds pulling together to make this happen. The managers we know (who you might see in the pictures - Dirk and Christian) are both Dutch and they have used the wealth of their guests to help raise money and awareness. However, it's also impressive to see them actively involved in the distribution and not just organising from a comfortable office.Being a fan of the power of an effective team it's clear that team work and even an element of competition helped them through their very challenging task. Hopefully, things will start to improve as our landlord said the rainy season is ending due to a change in weather patterns (ie. it rained heavily this morning instead of in the evening).
