When I got my first view of the Grand Canyon today it truly did amaze me. One can really sense the vastness as soon as you see it. We first viewed it from Desert View Point on the South Rim.Canyon from Desert View PointView from Desert View PointAfter spending sometime to take it all in we then drove further along the South Rim to Mather Point where the Grand Canyon Visitor Centre is. One view from Mather PointThe Canyon's widest point is 18 miles and goes as deep as 1 mile down. After lunch a few from our group took a 45 minute helicopter flight over the canyon. I can honestly say it is one of the best things I have ever done. I had a perfect spot in the helicopter  positioned at the front looking straight out the clear glass both to my front and the side. We first flew over forest for a few minutes before we hovered over the Canyon. As you fly into the Canyon you get the sensation that you're falling right into it for a split second. Our pilot warned us about the sensation so we were prepared. The views were absolutely fantastic. One view from helicopterand anotherI definitely recommend anyone who visits the canyon to take a helicopter ride. We had no turbulence, a confident pilot and a truly awesome flight.
