Eddie and I have, in our wisdom, decided to climb Mount Kenya next week. At 5199 metres it is the second highest mountain in Africa and altitude sickness is a definite possibility. In fact it has snow on its peak and is only 696 metres smaller than Kilimanjaro, and the whole trip will take five days. We'll be staying in basic mountain huts with no heating or hot water (my bobble hat will be staying firmly on my head at all times - no way anyone is getting the chance to photograph my hair after four nights without a shower). While I think Eddie would do pretty much anything at this point if it meant he got to see his beloved snow again, I am less easily persuaded to be mental, so I'm only going to climb this mo-fo if you lot sponsor us. Naturally the sponsorship money will go to our organisation, KAIH: if you need a reminder of what they're all aboutcheck out the websiteand thecase studies section. We will pay all the costs for the trip from our own pockets, so anything you can donate to us will go straight to KAIH.There is a small complication: online donation sites like JustGiving are difficult to use for small local charities in the developing world, as the monthly subscription costs are too high. So we need you to pay any money directly into our bank accounts instead. Hmmm, that sounds even dodgier written down than it did in my head! I promise we'll set up a spreadsheet and everything. However, if you think we're trustworthy types and that you can help us, please email one of us for more details. We will really appreciate anything you can do. And wish us luck!
