Today I went to Gruyeres with some of the other interns and people I've met so far in Geneva. At the train station in GruyeresThis was a great day trip from Geneva as we left in the morning from the Cornavin station and got to Gruyeres by 11am. This gave us the whole day for sightseeing. We started by doing a 2 hours hike up to Moleson Village. We saw spectacular views of the Swiss alps along the way and in order to break up our trek a bit we stopped for a glass of refreshing wine at Mongerons. The information about the Sentier de Formageries (Cheese trail) which we followed up to Moleson.Arriving in MongeronsA glass of wine to break up the hikeA cow that licked my handWhen we got to Moleson Village we ate at the Fromagerie d'alpage where we enjoyed the most delicious fondue. We tried 4 fondue flavors - regular, tomato, shallots and bacon.Making fondue in MolesonA fondue trio of flavorsYum!We then took the bus back to Gruyeres Village and visited the Castle and the town. We enjoyed the famous Gruyeres double cream with meringues. Needless to say the steep hike in the morning gave us quite the appetite to enjoy all the culinary delights Gruyeres had to offer.Walking up to the Gruyeres villageGruyeres villageCastle gardensFireplace in the castleDining room in the castleIt was a great day trip and I can't wait for my next Switzerland adventure.
