We're experiencing a hot June. Temperatures are slightly higher than usual for this time of year. It feels more like the middle of July! 38C today so it felt bliss to take a nice dip in the sea but as soon as you come out the heat is pretty stifling. Luckily though there was a strong breeze for a while which helps keep you cool. 43C was recorded in the North of Sardinia yesterday and I know it's forecast about 40C here over the next few days where we are!My local beach 5 mins from my houseActually, today was my first swim of the summer season. Well really the season has just begun and it's pretty cool knowing you have 4 months of guaranteed sunshine and beach weather....can't complain at that!My teaching has dwindled right down now as I have finished a course I was running for a local company in Pula teaching the employees. Most people don't want to study through the summer months although I still do have a few private students. I have also taken on some translation work, translating from Italian into English. I am really enjoying the challenge and it always helps me to improve my Italian. I am still managing the holiday lets in the summer but we aren't so busy this year, it seems a lot of other business are in the same boat. All the apricots have finished now but I have attempted to make the apricot liqueur. I used fresh apricots, the kernels from the inside, sugar and 95 percent alcohol with a small cinnamon stick. I have to leave all these ingredients together standing for 20 days (see photo)First stageAfter the 20 days I need to sieve it all, bottle the liquid and leave it for 7 months. It'll be ready by Christmas!!
