Serene watersThe first month of the year has started out perfectly. Full days of sunshine, blue skies and today reminded me of a British spring day as the birds were chirping so loud. A great afternoon for a cycle with enough of a breeze to make it a little challenging. The sea was beautifully calm and looked very tempting for a dip. Don't be deceived by the look of the water as it's too cold for swimming although I'm sure some people would brave the waters.Facing west at NoraOur local area is always quiet this time of year, just a few locals taking advantage of the lovely weather. The town in Pula has very little activity for the winter season and these last few years it seems to be getting quieter. Of course there are advantages to this if you enjoy solitude however the local community has taken a bad blow from an economical point of view and many feel that government policy is actually making things worse. I think they'll be a low turn out for the national elections next month as many people feel there is no alternative. Most politicians all seem to be coming from the same ideology, severe austerity with no economic stimulus. Here in Sardinia many people are feeling very despondent despite the fact that the island has so much to offer especially from the perspective of tourism. Well on that note we definitely need to make the most of the beauty around us and one healthy way to do that is to get on your bike and take it all in. I never tire of the scenery around here and always feel the fullness of nature whenever I am out and about. Here's to an optimistic new year...:-)Gearing up
