The May Bank Holiday was always my favourite Bank Holiday when I was teaching as it was the only one in the year that wasn't part of a regular school holiday and always felt like an extra special treat. I've included a link to an improvisation I recorded recently. If you have the time and inclination to listen to this, I hope it helps you to enjoy the extra special day a little bit more. Happy Bank Holiday everyone!Friends sometimes ask what I do these days - well it's mostly orchestrating and editing songs I've written over the years (though there has been a new one in the last few weeks and five others finished since Christmas), as well as practicing the trumpet and piano.I can't claim to have life saving skills (like some of my Facebook friends), so I thought I'd just share an example of what I do to pass the time here in Phnom Penh, with the hope it gives some pleasure (and it's a free download!).I'm the invisible pianist in this video because I recorded it late at night, straight onto the piano's recording system, using headphones so as not to disturb the neighbours! It's also easier to get into the mood later at night. This improvisation is rather like my typical day: it starts in a slow, dreamy, slightly confused way and gradually achieves a steady pace, which really picks up later on as night time falls! I finished this one just before midnight last week!I bet you can't listen right through without at least one, if not both feet tapping by the end!!! I hope you enjoy it!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dti7zJFLwAM
