First week in Ghana:I've arrived safe and well in Accra, the capital of Ghana and I'm having a week of training before heading off to my placement/job.I've meet up with some other volunteers and some local staff, all of whom are lovely and made me feel very welcome.Learning Kusaal (the local language) with Tom and FrancisZanne, fu duo wela = Welcome, how are you?Last night we went to an arts centre to see some local musicians/dancers and have a couple of 'fantas':It reminded me of the time we took the children from work to dance at the DFE.After two hours I was left feeling exhilarated although exhausted (and I was just watching!)I set off on Saturday for the 3 day bus journey north to the area where I am going to living and working. I'm excited about getting out to see the 'real Ghana' although a bit apprehensive about leaving the air conditioning!Laenfii (goodbye/see you later)Ali xx
