As a lover of fashion, I’ve been studying the Guyanese fashion rules and thought I'd share a few tips with any prospective visitors:Wear it tight and bright: the tighter and brighter the better.Tack and Bling are OKAY.Wear your HIGH heels on the way to work (don't worry about the ditches and potholes), then change into slippers in the office.Ladies, hair on your legs is okay, bad hair on your head is not.Gentlemen, accessories are always good, the more gold and bling the better. A woolly Kangol hat is very cool, a comb in your‘fro is very very cool.Shower caps are okay to wear in the rain.Never, NEVER put your handbag on the ground. You gotta be co-ordinated; your nails and eye shadow should always match at least 3 of the colours on your dress.Luminous colours are always in. No exceptions, whitie. If the party invite says‘elegantly casual’ then you need to wear a short tight dress.Gentlemen, grow your baby fingernail of your left hand LONG and wear your trousers LOW.Ladies, change your hairstyle at least every 2 months. If nothing else it’ll confuse the foreigners.Women of size, you most certainly can wear lycra. Women of age, dress as young as you feel.Dress to be noticed. Anything goes……just don’t expose your knees or shoulders in an official building.
