Various bits and bobs from the past few weeks…including the finish of the Gambia Brufut Marathon, 13.5 miles of physical and psychological torture. One of the things you take for granted when running a long distance race is that there will be markers along the route to inform you of how far you have run and, consequently, how much further is left to go. Oh, and you also expect regular and frequent water stations. Hmmmnnnn. More fool me. I set my sights too high on both counts. I felt 105 crossing the line but I finished in a good (for me) time of 1:49. The winner, bless his skinny little legs, did 1:08. Not bad…
