I thought that I had posted up another blog entry but evidently something went awry with it so here is a new one with since more time has gone by slightly more news.My house is a long way from work so that I have two matau rides in the morning and two in the evening, this takes a long time and is not great, the same could be said of a bad commute in any where in the world but I am not at heart a city boy.My house is very dark and quite basic but the roof does not leak, the electricity works (most of the time) and the water works (most of the time) so it performs all the basic functions of a house. I am living in a leafy upper middle class estate, so far out of town that it is off my street map!. In the compound is the main house and three other places similar to mine. The place in front of mine is home to two other VSO volunteers who have done a lot to make me welcome and help me out.My internet connection here is slow, so slow that it brings back memories of pre-broadband dial up days, checking email is ok but file downloads take ages and can cut out before the finish. The solution is to take a matutu ride down to the Sarit Centre and buy a cup of coffee where there is decent wifi access. The coffee is good but expensive and so long as they are not busy there is no pressure to drink up and leave. The clientele are a mix of well off Kenyans, ex-pats and travellers who want to catch up with home.
