In March, I wrote about a5-year old visually impaired girlwho I met on a field visit in Coast province with the Kenya Union of the Blind. Her story was particularly memorable, as this innocent little girl had essentially been abandoned by her mother, siblings and father at a very young age due to her visual impairment. On the day I met her, she was being taken to a boarding school to give her a fresh start and real opportunity to develop and grow, through KUB’s Education and Social Protection of Children program. I was pleased to receive updates from my colleagues over the past few months that she had made many new little friends and was thriving in her new environment. However this week, I received news that she fell sick and died in hospital.I wonder how someone so young and innocent had been dealt such an unfair hand in life... May God bless her little soul.
