I ended up buying an identical watch to Daniel. He paid 10 euros, I paid 150 dalassi (£3), my neighbour said we were both robbed, he could have got it for 35 dalassi (70p)…a timely reminder whilst visiting Sohm that we are near the border with the troubled Casamance region of Senegal…those poor aboriginies, it’s not even like they get a fair rap in their own country…my friend Suzanne visited over Easter from the UK. She’s the (self-professed) Angelina Jolie of Hove. These are the seven children she adopted on her first day here. The rest have been crated-up and should dock in Southampton by Christmas…my helpful neighbour, EB, had never been in a pool and never hada hamburger so Suzanne and I took him and a friend out for a day. I lent them my camera and got back 60 shots of them flexing their muscles and posing, for their Facebook pages…I’m not saying Suzanne came over here for any other reason than to see me, but a holiday romance is always a bit special. This young chap was just a bit too keen and, when he bared his teeth and went for blood, Suz called the whole thing off…a large rat (the size of a small cat) caught down the side of my house today. The two boys who caught it in an old tomato tin were thrilled as they will kill it, skin it and roast it for their family’s dinner tonight. Bon appetit!…
