The strange pattern around the man’s forehead is not a labotomy scar it’s a set of windows! There’s a lift on the ground floor that takes you up inside the man’s head, a very small space with dirty windows that doesn’t make you feel entirely safe. Plus, of course, there’s a giant, slightly evil looking head right outsidethe window…our van broke down (our driver hadn’t topped up a leaking radiator) shortly after leaving Dakar to return to Banjul. In true British (and Irish) fashion we commandeered some plastic chairs and had a nice cup of tea and a biscuit.
