It has been a productive week. Firstly, we moved office midweek to a much more central location. Despite being smaller, it has a much warmer feel to it and we feel like we are in the hub of activities. We now have internet connection too. In fact, we have been asked to stock up with whatever we need and just keep the receipts. This is all very encouraging. This, combined with a workshop I ran today with the collaboration of Miss Liao who did a superb job of translating into Chinese, makes us feel like we really are getting more recognition to do our work. I personally feel the workshop was a success. I had invited teachers from different departments, college leaders and students. Although some of the invites could not make it, there were enough participants to carry out the work I wanted to do. Most people actively participated and I received some positive feedback about wanting to do more workshops on improving teaching methodology. We explored the concept of inclusive teaching and came up with a vision to improve teaching methodology in the college over the next three years. Lets see!Other great news received this week, is that Lesley has won the China National Friendship Award! The college put her forward for the award as she won the Yunnan Friendship Award which is given to foreign experts, a couple of years ago. The National Award is prestigious and it is wonderful recognition of the work she has done here over the last four years. She has to go to Beijing at the end of the month for a four day presentation and will meet the President of China. How exciting is that? Congratulations Lesley, well done! The photos show our new office and the workshop session.
