When my parents came to visit me in September, they carried more than 100“Izzy dolls” with them, which the ladies at theWaterford Retirement Communityknitted for disadvantaged children. I wish that my parents, as well as the generous ladies at the Waterford, had been able to experience the joy that my friends and I felt when we delivered them to theMama Ngina Childrens Homein Nairobi yesterday afternoon. My friends Rosemary, Esther, Rebecca and I spent the afternoon holding, feeding and playing with the babies who had either been abandoned by their parents or had none to speak of. The youngest was only 2 months old! It was a very special afternoon and was one of my favourite days in Kenya since I arrived more than a year ago. Some friends and family have been asking me about worthy causes to make Christmas donations to. The home gratefully accepts in kind as well as cash donations to help with feeding, clothing and educating the 64 children between the ages of 2 months and 18 years who live there.Over the holidays, I will be taking donations and buying goods to personally deliver there early in the new year. If you would like to give a very special gift this year, please e-mail me attalialexander@hotmail.com. I will take photos and ensure that anyone who makes a donation receives a card as well as a photograph of exactly how the money is spent and who it will be helping.I cannot thank the ladies at the Waterford enough for opening this opportunity into my life. Wishing all of you a Merry Christmas and a happy and safe holiday season!
