I just stocked up on veggies from the vendor outside our house. She doesn’t have a formal shop but spreads a tarp out on the ground and covers it with perfect pyramids of vegetables. I just bought 4 onions, 8 tomatoes, 1 bunch of cilantro, 12 potatoes and 2 cucumbers for 160 Shillings. (Just over CDN $ 2). And that’s in Nairobi – in the rural areas that would seem like a rip off.Last week in Kisii I bought about 10 giant avocados for 50 Shillings (about CDN$0.70).
