Getting the hang of living in Cambodia. No. 3I went exploring after school today. I found a small supermarket selling European food. Wow, I bought coffeemate, laughing cow cheese and a fresh bread roll. My roommate got potato crisps and jammie dodgers. Back in our room we had a feast—cheese and crisp roll, a mug of Barry’s tea and biscuits. Ok, it’s not The Ritz, but the next best thing!!Today is Sunday. It’s our first day off since I arrived in Cambodia. I faced my fears, got out the bicycle and took to the road. It really is only a myth that they drive on the right. I met as many coming towards me on‘my’ side, as were on the other. However there are un-written rules,1.     The bigger your vehicle, the louder you blow the horn.2.     Keep going, don’t make any sudden moves and they will avoid you.3.     If on a bicycle, it’s not wise to avoid potholes, puddles, small ponds or mud, because that could be a sudden move, leading to trouble. No doubt there are some more to learn, but for now, I feel like Toad from‘The Wind in the Willows’ who took to the open roads. Hope I don’t come a cropper too.
