A Cautionary Tale

I have tried to take a fairly relaxed attitude to the various bugs and creepy crawlies in my house. Well, actually not to mozzies and cockroaches where I take a more 'die, die, die' approach, but others I try to live and let live. So when I add water to my rice and find a weevil floating in it a just pick out the weevil and think 'oh well, at least they float'. Unfortunately word of my hostessliness seems to have spread to all weevils in the surrounding area who have decided to move in to take advantage of my kindness. I kid you not my food cupboard was crawling with them. I hauled everything out, throwing away anything that looked too infested and sticking other vulnerable packets in the fridge. When I came to my popcorn I thought that it looked ok but I noticed a body stuck half in/half out the plastic bag so I decided to sieve it just in case. Eeugghh there were loads of them in there and on closer inspection I discovered that although my popcorn looked fine all that was left was the outer shells. Very crafty.Needless to say the Doom and bleach have been called into action which seems to have had the effect of cleaning my cupboards but scattering the fleeing population all round the house so now weevils are not confined to my food cupboard, I am finding them everywhere. I will be much more vigilant in future and will no longer be playing naive but genial host. Doom rocks!
