Photo/PHOEBE OKALL http://www.nation.co.ke/News/-/1056/842568/-/vpb5eh/-/Last week there was a solar eclipse visible from Nairobi. Well, visible is a slight exaggeration as there was a lot of cloud cover over Nairobi, which it seems is not uncommon when ever I am told to watch out for a solar or lunar eclipse. However, even with the cloud cover it was impressive how dark it got at around eight thirty in the morning. The other main news from the African continent is the African Cup of Nations football tournament taking place in Angola, main news except in Kenya, whose national team failed to qualify. Football is very popular in Kenya. as the game is across much of Africa, it is not uncommon to see matatu proclaiming their allegiance to one of the teams in th English Premier League (I guess that the commonest are Chelsea and Manchester United) but the Kenyan national team is not very successful at the moment. It is possible that as the tournament goes on interest may pick up but there is no sign of that yet.
