On Sunday morning I awoke to the crashing sound of monkeys jumping on the tin roof, which only exacerbated the pounding headache that we all had from the dance music that blared until nearly sunrise. (Somehow within a period of 2 hours on Saturday night the population of the camp tripled and demographics changed from mid-twenty and mid-thirty year olds to 18 year olds.)Nonetheless, one nearly sleepless night, a dozen bruises, 2 very sunburned legs, 2 ripped nails, some very sore shoulders and 22 hours on a bus later, I can still say this trip was worth every single moment and I'm still on a natural high!I spent most of the day Sunday sipping coffee and smoothies on the patio overlooking the Nile, reading near the river's edge and just relaxing in the shade. It was truly a wonderful weekend and a badly needed escape from the hustle and bustle of Nairobi. This weekend also marks the first birthday of my nephew and I was reminded of the day I received the phone call telling me he was born when I was on vacation at a coastal resort near Mombasa one year ago....Once again I was reminded of what a truly blessed life I lead.
