One of the nice things about living here is the quality and tastiness of some of the fresh produce. This applies to bananas, pineapples, carrots, lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers etc.Alison is a great fruit lover and we have both enjoyed the ready supply of delicious tasty and juicy mangoes this season. We are also fortunate to have mango trees in our garden and in this photo you can see Sane (the adopted son of our landlady Lin) helping receive the mangoes from Panic (who we think is a cousin and another orphan -  though we think he has a mother - it can be confusing here!!) and yes, these really are their names! They climb onto the corrugated iron roof behind our kitchen - I usually hear the metallic crumpling as a signal they're up to something! Then the long pole goes up into the tree to Panic - not clearly visible in this picture. The pole has a yellow bottle attached with part of the side cut out which acts as a perfect scoop for containing a number of mangoes, not just one. These are then put on the roof for passing down to Lin who stands in judgement on their quality! This is usually followed by some of the mangoes being brought to us to enjoy as a gift. In fact, they even cut them up ready to eat on one occasion recently! They are delicious and we shall miss them when the mango season ends - which is quite soon.
