It's too hot to sleep in the house at the moment, so this is where I've been sleeping for the past couple of months. Normally it's very comfortable, but I do wage a constant battle against poison resistant biting ants. I am also trying to teach the old lady who lives in my concession that just because she wakes up to pray at five o'clock every morning this doesn't mean that this is a good time to come and say good morning to me. My national volunteer told me a story the other day about one of her neighbours who went to sleep and woke up to find that a snake had crawled up his trousers (he spent the whole day lying still until the snake crawled back out!), but she has promised me that mosquito nets are also snake proof.
