After volunteers have been in the Country for 8 weeks VSO brings everyone together for a second spell of in-country training (ICT2). As well as providing a good opportunity for us to begin to make sense of our early experiences of Uganda, it's also good to meet up with the 'batch' of people who we started the journey with. Here's our volunteer 'batch' in the VSO 'banda' (big thatched room with open walls)Several of the volunteers from a distance from Kampala began assembling at our flat in the days before ICT2 began and we decided to set off for an overnight stay in Entebbe which is on the shores of Lake Victoria. Here we are, below, relaxing in the gardens of a lakeside hotel. In the right foreground is Felicity (aka "Wissit") - Wissit was due to fly home on Sunday 18 April but due to the ash cloud had an extra ten days in Uganda - she didn't complain at all! While in Entebbe we visited the Botanical gardens - brilliant spectacle and here's an awesome looking spiderOur guide decided he just had to show us his impersonation of Tarzan in a section of rain forest within the Botanical GardensThis is a crossing point for little red ants on the pathway through the Gardens - some ants provide a guard while the rest march through - we were warned not to get too close - apparently they bite hard!
