We’ve been looking forward to this day for a week now. Dianne is here! We invited her to come and spend a week with us to take time out from her busy schedule and for us to catch up with her life. We thought she needed a break, plus it was cheaper for us to bring her here than for us to go to visither. More importantly, we do not have a home base in Canada since Konrad’s living in our house, we don’t have a car because Dianne’s driving it and we don’t have vacation time because we haven’t been here six months and I don’t have a passport because it’s with Immigration while they process our extended stay. What we do have is a lovely week planned with Dianne in Jamaica. We started out our morning with a cup of coffee from Suzie's Cafe across the street. George and I don't drink coffee so we don't have the equipment to make a cup at home. Then walked along Hope Road to the Marley Museum and we took the tour inside which was actually more interesting than the last time I took it, although it was the same guide. Perhaps the fact we were the only two on the tour made a difference.Unfortunately there was no sign of the hungry Siamese cat this time.Bob Marley's house where he lived with his wife and back-up singer Rita and their 12 kids before he died.Dianne visiting Devon House. The is the historic home of the first African Jamaican millionaire. Our house. Although on the same street as both Bob Marley's home and Devon House, it's not quite as spacious. In fact it's quite modest - only three times as wide as you see here.Dianne and I spent most of the afternoon relaxing in and beside the Pegasus pool where George joined us for an after work swim. Dianne thinks I have a tough life! I realize this all looks so luxurious but we walked in the heat to get here and lounging by the pool is free. And as always, after our weekly swims at the Pegasus we treated ourselves to a taxi home because walking is very hot work and taxis are amazingly inexpensive at $350 Jamaican or $3.50 Canadian. We stopped by Chez Maria for a light supper under the lignum vitae as a treat for Dianne before walking the final bit home.Sadly, today was not all smiles, we learned this morning that Allan Pollock Blue Hamilton, George's dad passed away with George's sister Sarah at his side. He was 92. The most gentle man I have ever known who always had a smile on his face and a kind word to say about everything.
