It all starts today! I woke up far too early. Over-excited I think. I found myself in the gym at 7.45 am with grim determination to get fit and lose weight before sweating it out in The Gambia in August. I have not quite understood that I have four months to prepare and have given myself a daily list of jobs today much like the one I used to make at work.Leaving work was very hard, it gave me a focus and was very exciting from time to time. I loved the people and I still do love Orpington, or the O-Town as my daughter calls it. But, this journey is very important to me, almost like the last big, brave thing I can do before retiring into civic duty and art history classes. So, today on my list was to meet with a letting agent in order to rent out the house. I was dreading it but having had the meeting it is not quite so scary, especially as I have been told I can store my precious stuff in the loft and put a lock on it to boot. Renting is now a realistic option while I am away. It will help pay for the Safari I intend to do while in Africa.
