Thursday is garbage day and I had to clean out my fridge in order to get in supplies for the group of us heading out to Holywell in the Blue Mountains for the second long weekend in a row. Tomorrow is Independence Day finishing up the week fondly called Emancipendence Week. There are celebrations starting at 7:30 in the morning at Kings House so I'll try and get there to see what we can see. In the meantime, I'm cleaning out the fridge. As often happens I'm the one who lets the garbage truck onto the premises because the gardener is usually busy doing other things. The garbage truck driver really knows how to lean on the horn so to stop the noise, I open the gate for him. This morning I noticed they had a new truck with big signs saying they recycle paper, textiles, cans and plastic. I was so excited, I asked how the recycling worked. The driver smiled and said, lots of people have been asking him the same question. There is no recycling, it's just what's painted on the truck, they bought it second hand from the UK!On closer inspection I noticed the writing at the bottom and when I went to the other side I noticed the trucking company info on the passenger door. And here I was so hopeful that I could start sorting our waste. Not yet.
