Last Friday was a holiday to promulgate Kenya's new Constitution, so we took full advantage and headed to the coast where our friend Colm has been volunteering for the past 18 months.  Kilifi is a beautiful and quaint little town right on an inlet of the Indian Ocean about an hour north of Mombasa.  I can’t even begin to express how envious I am of Colm after getting a taste of his life there!  He has the best of all worlds– the true village experience, the Indian Ocean and a gorgeous hotel right across the street where he can spend his Sundays swimming in the pool and ocean, sun tanning and enjoying tropical juice, cappuccinos and Tuskers right on the beach. We had a lovely time and spent 3 full days enjoying the sunshine, relaxing on the beach, eating fresh sea food, and swimming.  The highlight was a sunset Dhow trip where we sailed past indigenous birds, breathed in the fresh ocean air, and watched the sun set over the coconut tree lined horizon. It was a truly spectacular weekend and re-energized me for my last three weeks in the hustle and bustle of Nairobi.
