Well, this is the beginning of the end... last night was my last night in South B.Yesterday, I said goodbye to my neighbours, the lady who I buy vegetables from, the man who I buy my fruit from, the 'hustlers' at my various matatu stages, the ladies who cleaned our house and my favourite security guard.  The fridge, gas cooker, couch, table and chairs and my mattress are now gone.  Pictures are off the walls, lampshades off the lights, curtains taken down and our apartment truly is starting to look less like a home and more like a giant empty jail cell again.  As a final farewell, last night the night club across the street blared its music louder than ever, the matatus of South B honked loudly late into the night, the car alarms sounded the final tunes for us and the only thing that was missing was an impromptu late night service from the evangelical church next door.  Oh South B, how I will miss you!  (Despite all the noises, I actually will...) Tonight I'll make my last trips up and down the 105 steps to our apartment and in less than two weeks, I'll be thousands of miles away back in Canada.  By pure luck or chance, we have been asked to look after our friend's dog and house in a really nice area of town as they are out of the country.  :-)  A serendipitous ending to a truly wonderful journey.
