I went to the Royal Rattanak Hospital again this morning. Interesting journey there as the main road was partially closed (for tree maintainance I think) so after stopping for petrol he had to take a detour. We just made it though. When I was finished the road outside was flooded due to heavy rain so we took another detour out the back entrance. It's amazing seeing the traffic carrying on in the "river" - even motodops including one with a European girl sitting sidesaddle on the back! After a prearranged discussion with the VSO GP the surgeon removed the cast as planned - that's scary -when the saw hits the skin and lots of vibrations - but they assured me it was blunt and couldn't cut me! I then had x rays and it may be aching now as a result of the x ray man manipulating my ankle to his preferred angle! The surgeon said his diagnosis was confirmed and showed me a dark line across the ankle bone which shows it's not completely healed yet which is why there is still no weight bearing. He does tell me it's all normal and as he expects in relation to the injury.Yet again I'm confused because I thought the original x ray showed a crack on the outside of the ankle bone - maybe it's just a different angle. Anyway, he's confident it's a "hairline" but it's still 2 more weeks on crutches before weight bearing. At least the leg can breathe and be washed - it's really quite bruised still - not a pretty sight! I can even swim if I can get in and out.I've been impressed by seeing the x rays on computer and asked if he could e mail them to me. They did this very quickly - it's amazing - I could even see these on my mobile! I am happy to e mail these to anyone who's interested (yes Terry, I'll send them for your opinion!!!), ! I'll see the doc again on 30th. Sept. so I may get home for a while though Alison is coming here tomorrow for a meeting and we're booked here (at the Pavilion) until Sunday. The doc advised me to put my leg in a bucket of warm water every day (or a warm bath) - that's going to be easy!! It feels very sore right now - I suppose there's no support any more so let's hope it settles down soon so I can write about more cheery subjects such as Liverpool beating Man. United at the weekend!!!!
