I'm a bit calmer today. I managed to see the Thai orthopedic surgeon who has overseen the case apart from the first visit to have the cast put on. He has very good English and understands nuances of the language and my sense of humour! He took the crutch apart to check it hadn't cracked (which is what I was worried about) he showed me the little horizontal rod and said I don't think we need to x ray it! Mind you, maybe we should have done!!!I told him my tale of woe from Saturday night and he advised me to follow his advice and not anyone elses! definitely no need for any back slapping - he said she would have seen that when she looked at the x rays. Let's hope his is the right advice! Certainly, he is the most convincing one here. He is very nice and calm. He checked my ankle/foot and was happy with its progress. He put me back on the swimming and to try to work the ankle a little bit - it's obviously very stiff at the moment. So, with a few more pills to help the pain I returned to the Kabiki hotel.Tomorrow it's off to Battambang in another taxi - let's hope he doesn't think he's another Michael Schumacher! Then we both go to Siem Reap (to our favouite hotel!) for a long weekend as it's another National Holiday on Friday- I think this one celebrates the monks throwing balls of rice for the spirits to catch - sounds interesting! So Alison will get some well deserved time off and we will get some time together. Her meeting today (in Battambang) started at 2.00pm.and was due to go on till 7.00pm and she had informal planning meetings this morning with another volunteer nurse. The joys of volunteering!
