So Far So Good - a weighty subject!

The trip to the hospital was enhanced by going in Cheourk's taxi as he was in town. As much as I like tuk tuks it was a much more comfortable ride and a whole lot easier to get into or rather fall into instead of being hoisted up in a rather undignified way! After some chat and x rays the doc was happy with my progress. To be honest, I couldn't see any difference in the x rays. He went through them with me on his computer reassuring me that there were no other problems and showed me that the crack wasn't healed yet. In spite of this he said it was ok to continue with his plans for me to start weight bearing. I had been worried he would want me to go straight to one crutch but I can still use two but start to use the right foot as much as I am able.It felt very strange, of course, and it was a matter of tip toe to start with as I hobbled around the treatment room. So, he's given me two weeks to work on this and expects me to be strutting around the place when I go back!My foot is still swollen and a bit red - apparently I've got ligaments and capillaries which all contribute to this effect. I'm afraid I tend to take doctor's comments quite literally, so when he said next time the dark line showing the crack will be white I thought he meant it! But the dark line is still there. I find this diffilcult to understand. Ironically, we had a head teacher who wanted us to be more like doctors in our diagnosis and "treatment or prescription" for pupils. This didn't mean handing out drugs to the pupils (!) but being ready to answer parent's enquiries at parent's evenings in an informed way like a diagnosis then following it up with guidelines as to how they might improve or remedy difficulties.I can't say I knew all the answers in that situation but I have very high expectations of doctors where my health is concerned (as we all do) and find it a bit confusing. Part of the problem these days is that we get more information than we used to - maybe it would be simpler if they just said "trust me I'm a doctor" and left it at that!!!So tomorrow it's back to Siem Reap to see Alison who has had another very busy and interesting week. We had already booked a few days there at the end of the week as there is another National Holiday so I shall stay there until she comes back on Thursday.
