Tonight while dinner was on the stove, I decided to sit down and write about the past week. However, upon writing the first few lines, our night guard came to the door to ask if I could come outside with my flashlight...... to help him kill a cobra in the yard. Great. Of course. I can do that...Despite the 30C+ temperatures, I quickly threw on some long pants, socks and shoes and timidly exited the house with my flashlight. We headed toward the back of the lot, where the vegetable patch is coming up very nicely. Come to think of it, I was out there earlier today watering the garden in my shorts and sandals. Super. At a“safe” distance, Charles pointed at the snake but I didn't see it straight away. Fortunately he had his trusty slingshot with him which he deftly used to stun the snake. As it started to slink away (much more slowly than I thought it might), Charles expertly guillotined the snake with the garden hoe. Crisis averted. It wasn't that big (maybe 2 feet long) but the fact that it was a cobra made me more than a little nervous. Unfortunately I am told that the rainy season, which is only a few weeks away, brings out more snakes. I have a distinct feeling that I'll now be extra jumpy when I hear things rustling in the leaves. This late breaking news seemed more important than tonight's planned storyline.  More to follow, but here's a teaser:Pondering the meaning of life and other philosophical topics.P.S. Mom, you shouldn't have read the bit about the cobra.  Sorry.
