It didn't rain for several days in Seam Reap! What a pleasant change! We could linger by the pool and relax and even seeing the sun for longer helped the feel good factor. Maybe the rainy season was petering out....However, after a smooth journey to Phnom Penh marred only by "bank holiday" traffic (rather like England but no caravans!) which made it a bit more wearing, we met the rain again. They say it didn't stop in Phnom Penh and yesterday it just rained (heavily) all day. The sky was very dark and gloomy. I'm glad to say today is a bit more cheerful. The traffic was not only heavier than usual but the number of people in, on and around a vehicle was more than ever too. Obvioulsy, there were family groups taking just about everything and everyone on one truck. One even had a moto tied on the back with several people on it - travelling sideways!!! Others had lots of people just standing on the bumper and hanging onto the back......amazing. Even our taxi driver gasped a few times!!Alison's back at work now as she has meetings (in PNH) to prepare for the National Nursing Conference. This is quite a big deal and Alison is involved with selecting who is going to be giving which talk as they have to present their ideas first for selection. I think she is finding this very interesting.I'm back to the doctors tomorrow and I am still fighting the bug that had kept me in my bed for a couple of days in Siem Reap. My asthma's a bit better but I'm still coughing well. Whilst in Siem Reap it was nice to meet with fellow volunteers I hadn't seen for a while, including one older volunteer (70 we think!) who'd detached her retina shaking an insect out of her ear!!! She went to Bangkok but used the Christian Hospital who do "eyes". She is a very experienced and well travelled doctor and she found this hospital and it's staff the best she's ever experienced -I think she ran out of superlatives! A doctor from the BNH (the one we've used) even went to visit her as she'd started at the BNH, and sorted out her mobile charger for her. We're all beginning to to understand why people engage in "medical tourisim".  Excellent attitude to care.......but at a price.......Anyway, it was good to see her back and out and about and apparently "cured".Hopefully the doctor will advise me to use just one crutch from tomorrow. I've had a practise and can see how it works. Though my right ankle still aches it is getting much more flexible and less swollen, so hopefully it's just a matter if time now.The Liverpool ownership saga continues to entertain (and worry) me. What will the final twist be??!! I hear their already making the film....fingers crossed for a good "result" today! On a different note, for those of you who don't see my facebook, I posted this little gem the other day from the Independent - it's given us a few laughs so thought you might like to see it too. It's not even April 1st.!!!!!Isn't it great that some companies give effective staff training - how else would they have known that their customers weren't happy!!??http://www.independent.co.uk/news/media/tv-radio/tv-licence-staff-get-complaints-guidance-2102915.html
