A young woman I know, Immaculee, has just given birth.  The baby was born at just under six and a half months.  Here are mother and baby Nice: The baby was born in hospital, which is a legal requirement here.  She was 1.2kg at birth and now, two days later, weighs 1.3kg, but she is very weak.  Immaculee had just fed Nice when we arrived and she encouraged me to come into the premature baby room and take a few quick pictures before the nurse returned.  Here is Nice again:Here she is back in her incubator:The incubator keeps her at the right temperature, but there are no tubes or monitors attached to her as the hospital does not have any.  Here she is again:The hospital was clean and orderly.  Immaculee was in a two-bedded room with mosquito nets, but she is moving to an eight-bedded room, with just enough room to walk between each bed, as this will be cheaper.  She pays both for her bed and for the baby's incubator, which will be a big drain on the family's finances.  She asks everyone to pray for the baby.Sorry about the long gap since last blog.  I've been to South Africa to see my sister Gina, back to Kigali for a week's VSO training then moved house in Gitarama.  I haven't had the energy over for blogging.
