This week our tutor brought in an old green glass fishing float similar to the first of these pictures. Our task was to take it as our inspiration and to write without describing the object. Round and round in a circlein a wheel within a wheelnever-ending nor beginningever spinning, ever rollingrunning ragged, twirling twisterin the whistling whirlpoolfloating cloudsthe mists of time. Expanding eddiesswirling spiralsgalactic gorgesthe folding spaces of Mobius ribbonsred giants and white dwarvesbinary pulsarsdensely packedexplosive Big Bang.
