Slowly it advances ever onwardstriding southwardcrossing mountains, plains and seas.Spreading forwardnever stoppingrelentless, creeping fingers of deathof white and coldof ice and snowof mist and fog.Temur Zud, the cold one approachesblanketing the skyshrouding bodieschilling bonesbrittlising sap.Life snaps away at the gentlest toucheswhilst moonlight shimmers on the winter ice.The lakes, solid to depthgiant mirrors on the barren-dry, unyielding earthenclosed on all side by mountains white from top to toethe herds lie dying. The migration to the cities begins. © Sheila Ash, 2015ashramblings
